Aluminum Covers at Ashbridges
Bay WWTP |
PROF&E was engaged by
Hallsten Corp on two projects for the City of
Toronto to review and stamp design for
the aluminum covers over existing large open
tanks. Following successful completion of
Ashbridges Bay WWTP
project, our team assisted Hallsten to obtain all
necessary permits for Humber WWTP. On both projects
we carried out design in using the latest design codes
for structural aluminum and concrete anchors.
In the last few releases of CSA A23.3 standard,
the anchor design section has been
significantly upgraded and aligned with the US
codes.

Silencer
Supports at Various Locations |
Over past years, PROF&E did
many different projects by various
subcontractors to design supports for generator
silencers and exhaust pipes. On Leslie SPS project, a
floor-standing silencer support framing was
utilized. On other projects, a hanging silencer
supports were designed to avoid conflicts with
the equipment on the Genset Room floors. In all
cases, the framing layout was optimized in the
field with the operations staff and general
contractor. A sophisticated vibration analysis
followed field coordination that resulted in
the most cost effective
designs. |

Inspection and Design of
Structural Framing to Support new Roof Top Units
(RTU) |
In our association with
PointArchitects, last year we had several
industrial and commercial projects that
required upgrades to the existing
HVAC systems. On these projects, our team of
professionals inspected existing conditions,
did structural evaluation of the existing
building framing and recommended structural
modifications to accommodate new loads. However,
in coordination with the rest of the design
team, we managed to keep additional
construction cost down to a minimum, and in
some cases the additional cost was zero. On
this type of projects, we utilize our
experience in managing multi-disciplinary
design and construction teams to reach the most
optimum solutions. |
