Whether you believe in climate change or not, there is a clear evidence that in the last few years Ontario experienced several tornado touchdowns and winds exceeding wind loads in our building codes. Consequences were quite severe and considering that the buildings were not designed for intensity of actual winds, potential future damages could be even worse. If you are a business owner, property manager or a house owner, you cannot rely on your insurance policy, because in case of disasters on a lerge scale, insurance companies offer very limited insurance coverage, if any. Not to mention potential loss of life, indirect losses, etc. Similar to eartquakes, buildings can be designed for extreme winds, and future disasters can be prevented with proper engineering. The damage is typically prevented by improving building envelooe, main structural components and exterir feature (such as trees, poles, drainage, etc) that may bear or collapse building exterior, causing further damage or injuries inside the building. Most common construction techniques used in Ontario are not adequate for extreme winds, and in some cases buildings require re-design of their main structural elements to be bale to handle these conditions.

If we are engeged before damage took place, we'll be able to prevent or control potential future damage caused by exterme winds. In the worst case scenario, we would assess damage already caused by the elements and help you avoid future disasters. In addition to civil, structural and archtectural components of buildings, we can advise on HVAC, electrical and other improvements.
